The Hero Inside

When a hero flies by with a cape and a hood,
There is no doubt there that it makes me feel good.
But a hero doesn’t need a large “S” on his chest,
Or a utility belt, or all of the rest.
All he needs is the heart and the will to save lives,
And as long as that endures then the hero still thrives.
If plane starts to crash or building should fall,
Then for their hero the victims of terror should call.
And no matter who answers that desperate cry,
Be it fireman, soldier, or regular guy.
That person is brave and courageous in heart,
And quickly to danger that hero will dart.
So a hero doesn’t need a cape and a hood,
It’s the hero inside that makes me feel good.
Written in memory of all who died from the 9-11 terrorist attacks.
